Kingpin have relaunched with a revolutionary entertainment destination in Crown Melbourne with premium event spaces. From arcade games to laser tag and bowling as well as ‘The Hub’; a 75-seat casual dining restaurant with a fresh, curated menu.
The venue is architecturally designed with a futuristic sleek atmosphere, light-up bowling pins make up the feature wall that rotates a neon glow of different colours. The Hub includes an open dining area amongst the cocktail bar, bowling alley and pool tables suited for the older crowd, sectioned away from the hustling-bustling arcade.
The menu has a variety of approachable dishes to choose from such as chicken caesar salad, Kentucky wings, Mexican share plates, curly fries, fried chicken burger, Belgian waffles and a drinks list with indulgent milkshakes and thick shakes. Wash it all down with their delicious range cocktails such as Pimms jug, espresso martini, their signature Countess cosmo, passionfruit and lime margarita or spiced mojito. For the well behaved, a strawberry sour or virgin watermelon refresca mocktail might be your thing.
The chicken caesar salad has a generous serving of grilled chicken breast that rests on crunchy lettuce dressed to perfection, with hits of saltiness from the parmesan and bacon. The New York cheeseburger with a double-patty, bacon and cheese or southern fried chicken burger is pure satisfaction for any burger lover. Finish it off with a pecan pie with strawberries and cream if you dare.
If ten-pin bowling is right up your alley, then Kingpin is where you ought to be. Their bowling alley is slick and sophisticated with flood lighting that sets an intimate mood. Each lane is available solo or for larger groups. Perfect if you want to get competitive in teams. If you’re no good at bowling then just order more cocktails which you can blame for your un-coordination.
Sounds of nostalgia runs through the arcade as you can feel the heartbeats of the games dinging, donging and all of the other noises, reminding many of us of our favourite childhood pastime. The gaming machines aren’t quite the same as back-in-the-day, Kingpin have stepped up their games - pun intended. The machines are at least three times bigger than they were in the 90’s. There’s a vortex tunnel that tricks the brain, thinking you’re going upside down. We went through it about four or five times and wanted to go again. There are virtual reality simulators, faster graphics, more immersive machines that make us wish we were kids again, although, we’re having just as much fun as adults, so it doesn’t really matter.
As if that wasn’t enough activity, they also have laser-tag which is another one of our favourite pastimes. The adrenaline that runs through the veins as you hide in the dark corner, aiming your gun at the enemy trying not to get spotted in their black-light glowing arena is out of this world.
Kingpin reminds us how much fun these activities were as kids, and that it’s still equally as fun as an adult. It doesn’t hurt to take a break from reality now and again. With dining, bowling, arcade and laser tag, Kingpin is a great destination for all occasions including; corporate parties, birthday parties, team building, a date, boys or girls night out, break up party, bucks party, hens night, farewell party or any other excuse you can come up with.
